How can we reimagine resourcing for intersectional social justice organizing in regions going through poly-crises, such as Central and Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Central and North Asia (CEECCNA)? Join us and an inspiring panel of activists and funders for an open dialogue addressing these challenges and charting new pathways for transformative funding.

About the Session
This dynamic and generative discussion will connect activists and funders to explore the complexities of organizing and funding in the CEECCNA regions.
What’s on the agenda?
🔹 Regional Analysis from Activists:
Three activists from Eastern Europe, the North Caucasus, and Central Asia will provide insights into the poly-crises faced by grassroots movements in CEECCNA, placing these challenges within a broader geopolitical context.
🔹 Philanthropic Perspectives:
Speakers from the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, UN Foundation, and Equality Fund will share their experiences in funding transformative movements and discuss the structural barriers and actions required to act as true allies for the social justice organizing in CEECCNA regions.
🔹 Anti-Colonial Organizing:
A conversation on anti-colonial organizing in CEECCNA, exploring why funding for efforts resisting human rights abuses and humanitarian crises is shrinking, and how crisis funding can better align with political analysis and grassroots work in the regions.
🔹 Future-Focused Dialogue:
Together, we’ll collectively explore:
- How funders can align crisis funding with political analysis and the realities of frontline organizers.
- How to advocate for conservative institutions to support transformative movements.
- New funding modalities for crisis prevention, preparedness, and recovery.
Interactive Format
Using a fishbowl methodology, six speakers will lead the initial discussion, with one open seat allowing participants to step into the inner circle. We hope this dynamic format will ensure an inclusive dialogue, creating space for diverse perspectives and groundbreaking ideas.
Why It Matters
Underfunding movements in CEECCNA has a domino effect on global dynamics, limiting the resilience of social justice movements and the communities they support. This session aims to bridge the gap between organizing and funding ecosystems, envisioning a future where intersectional movements are resourced to resist, recover, and thrive.
Let’s come together to co-create strategies that align resourcing with the realities of intersectional organizing in CEECCNA regions. We look forward to your voice in this vital conversation.
